Stephen Martinez
Paralegal
Stephen Martinez (he/him) is a Paralegal in Immigration Equality’s Refugee Program.
Stephen first joined Immigration Equality as a temporary legal assistant in 2017 before moving on to two subsequent roles managing various systems on the organization’s Operations team. After this first set of roles at Immigration Equality, he went on to work as a Salesforce Engineer, helping charitable organizations achieve their goals through data driven systems. As both an in-house employee and as a consultant, he has advised nonprofits on how to effectively use technology to achieve their programmatic and fundraising goals.
During his time away from Immigration Equality, Stephen often worked on the organization’s systems pro bono, and was a member of Immigration Equality’s Associate Board. He hopes his current work on the organization’s legal team will have a positive impact on the lives of LGTBQ and HIV-positive asylum seekers and refugees.
Stephen is a graduate of the William E. Macaulay Honors College at CUNY, where he studied Computer Science and Mathematics. He enjoys singing karaoke on the weekends, and speaks both English and Spanish.
