Immigration Equality Files Amicus Brief in Ninth Circuit for a Gay Couple Whose Marriage Petition Was Denied

On September 15, 2023, Jones Day, along with Immigration Equality and Lambda Legal, filed an amicus brief with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, in the case of a gay man whose I-130 relative petition for his husband was rejected by USCIS. USCIS had rejected the petition after finding that Petitioner’s previous marriage to a woman was fraudulent. The amicus brief provides critical context about marriages between partners of different sexual orientations.
