Legal Help Inquiry Form

Immigration Equality is a non-profit organization that provides free information and legal services to people who have been persecuted on account of their sexual orientation, gender identity or HIV status, or have other LGBTQ-related immigration issues. If you are looking for legal resources, or would like to be considered for Immigration Equality’s asylum or refugee programs, you can fill out our inquiry form here:

In order to determine if we can help you, we need to gather detailed information about your situation. We understand that this information is deeply personal. Immigration Equality keeps all of your information confidential in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Please note that like most free legal service providers, we receive thousands of requests for help each year. While we are always working at our greatest capacity, filing out this form does not guarantee that we will be able to represent you.

If you are in the United States and need legal help but do not fit our criteria, you can use the following link to find an agency in your area that may be able to provide free or low-cost legal services: http://www.immigrationadvocates.org/nonprofit/legaldirectory/.

If you are calling directly from a detention center, you can reach us Monday to Wednesday 9:30am to 5:30pm and Thursday from 1pm to 5:30pm Eastern Time at (917) 654-9696. Please note that we can only accept calls directly from detention centers.

If you are outside of the United States and are a refugee, in addition to contacting UNHCR, you may also wish to reach out to the following organizations to see if they can assist you: (1) Rainbow Railroad and (2) International Refugee Assistance Project.
