Immigration Equality Applauds Biden Administration, Urges Expansive Reform

Dear supporters,

Trump is finally gone! President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are in charge, and the Democrats control both chambers of Congress. What a remarkable opportunity!

We applaud the Biden administration for prioritizing immigration reform on its very first day. The administration’s legislative agenda looks very promising. In fact, it includes many of the recommendations we provided to his transition team. As such, we will also need your help to demand that the House and Senate pass the reforms our community needs.

In the coming days and weeks, we will need you to stand with us. Sign the pledge to restore the rights of people who are LGBTQ or living with HIV. No one should fear living openly as their true selves simply because they’re queer, trans, or living with HIV.

We have to ensure that the Biden administration follows through on its ambitious agenda. It’s critical they reform the Departments of Justice, State, and Homeland Security, in order to:

• Roll back all of the damage created by Trump’s policies; 
• Use the power of the Presidency to increase protections for queer asylum seekers, and free them from detention; and 
• Treat same-sex couples and their children just like all other families.

Together, we can demand the Biden administration fix a broken immigration system and protect the most vulnerable immigrants.
