Joseph Loy

Joseph Loy is a partner in the New York City office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP who litigates intellectual property disputes in federal courts nationwide. In addition to his corporate clients, Joe has successfully represented over fifty asylum seekers through the Kirkland LGBT Asylum Project, which he coordinates. He has served as Special Assistant District Attorney for the Kings County District Attorney’s Office and Special Assistant Corporation Counsel for the Law Department of the City of New York. He clerked for the Honorable Kiyo A. Matsumoto on the Eastern District of New York. In 2011, Joe was named a “Best LGBT Attorney Under 40” by the National LGBT Bar Association. Joe received a JD from New York University , an MPA from Columbia University’s School of International & Public Affairs, and a BS from the University of Oklahoma. In 2011, Joe co-chaired Immigration Equality’s Safe Haven Awards.
