Dorian Needham

Board Secretary

Dorian Needham’s interest in asylum and refugee law stems from his time as a Protection Unit Intern with the UNHCR Representation in Japan. After leaving Tokyo for New York, he came to know Immigration Equality’s phenomenal clients while working in the Health Care Group at Ropes & Gray LLP. Having represented these clients in affirmative and defensive proceedings, and having been inspired by their resilience and courage, Dorian joined Immigration Equality full-time as a Staff Attorney. He was charged with doubling the size of Immigration Equality’s Pro Bono Program, and along the way, he had the privilege of meeting and collaborating with hundreds of dedicated attorneys and service providers from across the country. On leaving Immigration Equality to return to health care work—he is currently the Vice President of Compliance at Oscar—he realized that his passion for Immigration Equality’s work demanded that he stay involved, and he is now delighted to serve as Secretary of the Board.

Dorian holds degrees in common and civil law from McGill University in Montréal, Canada, and completed his undergraduate studies at Princeton University. A proud Canadian, he lives in Jersey City with his American husband.
