Lesbian Binational Couple Featured on Vermont Public Radio
Sissy and Janet, a Vermont couple who celebrated their civil union in 2000 yet are separated half of every year due to discrimination in immigration laws, are featured on a Vermont Public Radio story today on the Uniting American Families Act. Sissy and Janet also spoke at Immigration Equality’s press conference the day UAFA was introduced.
.
The story also features Senator Leahy who sounds an optimistic tone on UAFA, and Immigration Equality.

Click here for the story. Kudos to Sissy and Janet (and all of you binational couples) for your advocacy!

.
Also today, PFLAG (Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays) in the top feature of their March newsletter to their thousands of members, has urged them to call members of Congress and ask them to cosponsor UAFA.

An absolutely fantastic story. Thanks! Also, the story concludes with the line that Sen. Leahy has introduced UAFA before, but “this time around has the support to get it passed.”
We need to get this story on National NPR. What a great piece!

I just saw an article about a lawsuit filed by legally married same-sex couple against the federal government for discrimination through DOMA. How could this affect us? If they were to win, would we potentially have access to federal rights if we got legally married? I know it’s a long way off, but I’m just wondering if this is another potential path for us. Here’s the article I read: http://www.edgeboston.com/index.php?ch=news&sc=&sc2=news&sc3=&id=87928
