I'm from Germany and we're thinking of moving there in a year. The "freedom" or "liberty" in the U.S. is just propaganda, or advertisement. As long as ALL U.S. citizens aren't treated equally, it is just one big hoax. But it's good your partner is from a civilized country where you are both welcome for as long as you wish to stay there. We found out officially from our lawyer late last week, that her application was returned. The reality is, there were 170,000 applications for a Work Visa for the mere 65,000 slots made available. In light of these facts, I agreed to an interview with Reuters and the story broke today, making national and international news. Below is the link. Clearly after you read and see the video story, same-sex marriage in California does NOT solve our problem. We will spend this 4th of July weekend not celebrating our independence, but saying goodbye to my parents, sister, niece and two nephews as we will be leaving the United States on July 23rd. Our plan is to immigrate to Canada after the first of the year in order to keep our little family of three together. We wish to thank you all for your letters to Senator Feinstein and Representative Maxine Waters. While their staff has been nothing short of empathetic and responsive to our situation, as of today both of these Members of Congress have NOT lent their support of THE UNITING AMERICAN FAMILIES ACT, which would solve this issue for our family and 40,000 others. I encourage you to keep calling, emailing and writing Senator Feinstein and Representative Waters to let them know that you do NOT want us to leave. They need to keep hearing from you.
